Do the Slumdog Millionaire dance!
Today is Monday, and this blog post is an exception.
It is simply important to interrupt this blog’s regular Friday publishing routine to celebrate — with the UK and India, that is — the glowing triumph of Slumdog Millionaire in yesterday’s 81st Academy Awards.
To director Danny Boyle and the whole cast and crew of Slumdog Millionaire, congratulations! You deserve all those Oscar Awards you’ve won.
Now, Slumdog Millionaire fans, do the Bollywood dance to the tune of Jai Ho. Be guided by the steps shown in the video.
Special thanks goes to Mick Hagen and Rachel Hagen of Zinch for their stunning Slumdog-inspired dance performance on YouTube (what a cool couple). Their homemade video only proves that non-Indians can do those cheesy Bollywood dance moves as well.
UPDATE: Watch this Vimeo video showing Master Class dance students doing the Jai Ho dance in Atlanta, Georgia.
TIDBITS: This blog’s Slumdog Millionaire film review can be found here. As a point of reference, the film’s much talked about dance scene at Mumbai’s train station can be viewed here. That’s where you get the real deal.

I love the dance!!!! I totally want to learn it and do it at my brothers wedding in May!
it’s a great workout too!
our culture is very much related to India’s. we also have dance (production) numbers in our movies.
Great movie!!!
are there specific intructions for that dance?
like written out?
Thanks so much for doing this. Our son is marrying a wonderful girl from India this summer and we wanted to learn this dance for the wedding. Breaking it down from the video is not easy but now we do not have to since you did it for us. Thanks so much!!
Believe it or not, I saw a “Bollywood Excerise Routine” show on TV the other day, hosted by this guy who trains people to lose weight, using the Bollywood dance moves
I thought it was cool hehe
Since I couldn’t sleep last night, I decided to do something productive like learn the Jai Ho dance. Thanks for the help!
